Most residential installations occur where there is no permit required to install one of our pergolas. Every area and municipality can be different, so it is recommended that you check with your local authorities whether you need a permit or not.

In the event that you do need a permit, most drawing or rendering requirements can be satisfied with a copy of our standard attachment and assembly drawings.

If that is not sufficient, a wet stamp drawing from an engineer may be required, but that is the exception rather than the rule.

Most of our designs have been permitted with snow loads and wind loads all across the U.S. Give us a call first and we can give you some better direction on what you need to ask your local city building department.
